Dasho Secretary, MoAF Conducts RNR Progress Meeting for Bumthang Dzongkhag

The Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dasho Thinley Namgyel held a RNR progress and way forward meeting for Bumthang Dzongkhag at UWICER, Lamai Goempa campus today. Dasho shared concerns regarding the negative GDP growth (-6%) by the country during the current pandemic. Third Batch Nature Guide Training starts at UWICER

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (UWICER), Lamai Goempa, Bumthang, in collaboration with the Department of Technical Education (DoTE), Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR), is conducting a two-month nature guide training for 40 culture and trekking guides (36 male and 4 female) under the Skill Development Plan. The Institute has trained 65 nature guides in two batches so far, and this is the 3rd batch of the nature guide training being conducted at the Institute under MoLHR funding support. [Read More...]

Sanam Lyonpo Visits UWICER

The Honorable Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Yeshi Penjor, visited the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (UWICER) on 14th October 2021. The minister was on his tour to Bumthang dzongkhag to visit various offices under the Ministry. In his keynote address, Lyonpo applauded the work that UWICER has been doing in education, training, and research in the natural resource sector. The minister informed the institute about the discussions that are currently ongoing regarding the vision and future for the institute. Health Minister Visits UWICER

The Health Minister Dasho Dechen Wangmo visited the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (UWICER) on 13th September 2021. Addressing the staff and trainees gathered, Lyonpo emphasized how Bhutan managed to avert major public health crisis in the wake of global pandemic due to the unwavering support from the general public by following COVID-19 preventive measures.
